MUSICIAN

"Music will tell you more about a person instead of their words." Rocco Shield's passion for music is a family heritage but not without financial struggle. "My family told me, do not make music your profession, because we have had more family musical members broke. So I decided to have it as a hobby."

For 7 years, Shields was a bass player, and the only woman in an all male band, Automatique. They toured the country, gaining much fame, recognition and following. "However, music slowly started to become a job, and I was forming my first company at the time, Wingspan Pictures. I had to choose music or film. I realized that I could always intergrade music into film, and that's what I did."

The band never officially broke up, they all quietly went on to other things and a reunion will happen as time permits.

Shields continues to play the bass and has collaborated with other artist Brain Mantia and Melissa Reese for the feature film, "Love Is All You Need?" "It was a team collaboration, we were all the composers for the film as well as sound designers."

Music has influenced Shields fast cutting, rhythmic editing, and edgy sound design for her films.
